I apparently have a 'rear distribution', or something like that, problem with my car. Its a Honda CRV, all wheel drive. I'm taking it in on Monday but I worry what could be wrong. It makes a bumb, bumb, bumb noise when I make tight turns, the tighter the turn the harder it sound and vibration. I thought it was my front because it happens when I turn but the body shop where my car was repaired said its the rear.

Any idea?

o.o'

EDIT: Ehehe, Mouse nailed what the guy called it, the problem looks to be a rear distrubution thingy or something, or so said the shop dude.

Rear differential? That would make sense, but a rear distrubution does not.

Honda has a service bulletin on the rear differential for the CRV. Make sure you mention that when you take it to the shop.

Yup, they do. Means that Honda MIGHT cover the parts/labor for fixing the problem, so make sure you mention the service bulletin OR take it to a dealer.

The diffential moves the power from the engine to your rear wheels, it's pretty important that that fluid get changed as recommended in your owner's manual or your car won't be going anywhere. Looks like it's supposed to be changed every 15k miles and use only OEM fluid to replace it.

Your shop better be Honda fluent. Sounds like this is a big problem with the CRVs.

They're good with foreign brands. Problem is the nearest Honda dealer I don't trust. I took my car in for another noise that I only heard once and they said I had to get like $600 done to my front wheels. Yeah right, took it to my regular people and they were clueless whatever they were talking about, everything looked fine. That was two years ago. If they agree that is the problem and suggest taking it to the dealer I'll have to go to another one than the close one.

Just in case it's helpful, years ago I had an all-wheel drive car. As I recall it had the same problem yours does, it was going to cost mucho to fix, more than I could afford, so my mechanic said he could just disable the rear wheel drive altogether. So if you can't get it covered under a recall maybe that'll be an option for you.
