Writer's Block: My Biggest Environmental Pet Peeve

[Error: unknown template qotd]The part of the state I live in is in an 19 month drought. We're into water restrictions and because people won't stop watering their lawns on days and times allowed our aquifer is taking hits. Its usually businesses that won't change, more concerned of their lawns that annoy me the most. Littering is up there with the misuse of water around here. A few weeks ago I was cleaning up the remains of Tacocabana bags and about ten beer bottles smashed in front of my house.

What I don't get is why people don't use plants or grass that is NATIVE to the area!?
Seriously!! "Kentucky" Blue Grass is NOT native to Colorado DX And I'm allergic to the stupid grass.
Something called "Buffalo" grass is Native to Colorado -- and thrives on 6 inches of rain in a year. No wonder there's a water shortage in so many places!! People use a grass that is not native and uses 50 times more water than necessary, when they could use a grass that IS native and uses so little water - you could let nature do what nature does best. XP

If I ever get a house With a lawn, I'm tearing out the blue grass and putting in Buffalo grass (then I would Never have to water it) X3 Yush!
